“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” ― John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America

Steinbeck was dead on with his thoughts of winter. But he missed a little of the sweetness that winter can also offer. Some of the recipes I have been looking at and enjoy for this particularly cold winter are listed below. They are all simple, full of flavor and best of all are not going to bust your New Year’s diet resolutions. There is even one reference to a summer warmer time coming. Enjoy! But keep that fire roaring.
