THE HARVARD CLUB
Photograph by Brian Phillips at www.BrianPhillipsPhoto.comGetting into The Harvard Club of Boston is a little akin to actually getting accepted to the Ivy league school that shares its name. You have to hold a degree from either Harvard, Radcliffe, or Yale. The minimum requirement forces you to have a pretty tight affiliation with one of its members. Of course, you can go another route by getting married at the club, or simply be invited to be a guest speaker at one of its functions. Since I am already spoken for, my entrance pass falls in the latter category. Liberty Mutual (a company I've been working with) arranged this recent speaking engagement at the Harvard Club.

I have to admit though, I would not mind joining the ranks of those who have been granted honorary degrees from Harvard.
A short list of recipients includes folks like: Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Ulysses S. Grant,
Benazir Bhutto, Albert Einstein, Robert Frost, Ansel Adams, Aaron Copeland, Georgia O'Keeffe, Mother Teresa, Winston Churchill, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Yo-Yo Ma, Colin Powell, Quincy Jones, and Walt Disney. Why not throw a chef into the mix?
